  • Day 61: Crescent Moon

    Day 61: Crescent Moon

Humans will never cease to be fascinated by the moon. We are, quite literally, attracted to it. Life as we know it would not be possible if it weren't for the moon. The universe presented this bright crescent moon amongst the clouds. I obliged to take its portrait.

    The Moon

The moon last night was quite a sight to behold.

  • Day 206: Moon over the hill

Day 206: Moon over the hill

This thin slice of the moon made me think of Andy Kaufman. I wonder what kind of shenanigans he'd be up to, had he not died so young.

  • Day 35: Something Forgotten

    Day 35: Something Forgotten

When I come across beautiful things from the past, I always think about how much that thing mattered to someone. The sacrifices to acquire it. The excitement when it finally got home. And here it is, a few decades later, covered in rust and snow, missing pieces, illuminated by a nearby highway sign at night.

  • Day 42: Billion Star Hotel

    Day 42: Billion Star Hotel

The Hotel Kaleden went from five stars to billions. Built in 1910, it operated until World War I, after which it was dismantled. Since the 40s its shell has stood there as one of the most iconic heritage buildings in the Okanagan. At night, in the quiet charm of darkness, you can see countless stars through its windows. The sky now acts as its roof.

  • Day 116: Kenny on his horse "Warpaint"

Day 116: Kenny on his horse "Warpaint"

Kenny McLean was a legend in the world of rodeo. He was from Okanagan Falls. When he died in 2002, they erected this statue in his honor at Centennial Park.

    Day 313: Moody Night

I love how quiet it gets at night when it snows.

Day 237: Stars over the hill

I haven't done one of these in a while, so tonight was the night.

  • Day 249: Canada 150

    Day 249: Canada 150

The colorful Canada 150 installation at Prince's Island Park in Calgary, Canada.

  • Day 250: Streetwise Moon

    Day 250: Streetwise Moon

The smoke in Calgary has granted us incredible views of a vivid orange Moon. This composite photo was taken by merging two images (the moon would otherwise appear much smaller than the huge one seen with the naked eye). Interestingly, while taking this photo, a coyote ran by and started howling at the moon. That's Canada for you. :)

  • Day 253: Big Rock

    Day 253: Big Rock

Also known as Okotoks Erratic, Big Rock is a 16,500-tonne boulder in the middle of the prairie landscape. It is supposedly one of the largest glacial erratics in the world.

  • Day 254: Calgary Skyline

    Day 254: Calgary Skyline

The iconic Calgary skyline, captured here at night with some interesting clouds.

  • Day 256: Centre Street Bridge

    Day 256: Centre Street Bridge

Calgary got a lot colder and cloudier all of a sudden. At least the dark clouds provide a nice contrast with the illuminated bridge.

  • Day 318: Industry never sleeps

    Day 318: Industry never sleeps

This picture came about randomly. I drove without a specific direction until I found something interesting.

  • Day 137: Woodbine Beach

    Day 137: Woodbine Beach

Woodbine Beach is gorgeous at night. It is so alive. Walking on the shore to the tune of life taking place will be one of the highlights of my trip.

  • Rain over Toronto at Dusk

    Rain over Toronto at Dusk

The searing mid-summer heat took a breather today as rain fell steadily all afternoon. As evening broke the rain slowed - thought not entirely - and gave way to sunset that was alive with tropical hues, sandwiched between matching gray layers of heavy storm clouds and tall skyrise rooftops. Shot with Canon EOS 30D and EF 70-200 F4 L USM. Best viewed as Large.

    Day 327: Downtown Alley

Shot with my phone in the evening just before my presentation on chatbots. There are so many interesting photographic opportunities downtown.
